Spellbound NJ app good for
Really fun game - Ive been playing it for over a month and Im still loving it!
This is a favorite word game for me. Its unique and interesting as you progress through levels that each have an entertaining new challenge. Simple to learn, you choose a setting, Easy, Medium or Hard, so its endlessly challenging.
And its tense! You have to complete an assigned task before the clock runs out to progress to the next level. If this is frustrating, know that you get better with experience.
I used to be addicted to this game when I had a Treo. Now that its been made for the iPhone Im again at risk of addiction. BTW other word game apps I like include Moxie and Scrabble.
I used to play this game for hours on my old Palm Pilot. After playing this, all other word games fail in comparison. The screenshots dont really do the game justice. What makes Spellbound NJ standout from all the other word games is the ability to make words in a non linear way. Usually in this type of word game, the letters you use to make a word need to touch the previous letter. So if you make W-O-R-D, the O has to touch the W, the R has to touch the O, etc. With Spellbound NJ, The D can touch the W and so can the R. You need to enter the letters in the correct order, but they can touch any of the letters youve already touched. It sounds more confusing then it is. If youve played Woxel, its the same concept.
So now thats out of the way, I can tell you the other cool feature Spellbound NJ has. Unlike any other word game Ive ever played (and Ive tried dozens in search of a Spellbound NJ clone), this one gives you tasks in each level. So level 1 might be simple such as make 10 4 letter words. Other levels have challenges such as, make 5 letter words using ABCDEFGHIJKLM. Or Make 4 letter words starting with the letter P. This adds a totally new dimension to word games.
It also brings strategy into it, too. When you make a word, the letters disappear but are replaced with new letters, so the level keeps going on and on. There is a timer, but unlike Woxel, youre given a fair amount of time to complete your tasks. There are three different levels to choose from. Ive only tried Medium, but I assume the timer changes with each level. I got the game today so I havent had the chance to finish a complete game, but if its anything like the Palm version, I would say the only downside to this game is the lack of a random feature. At least on the Palm version, level 1 always gives you the same challenge, as does level 2, etc. It would be nice if everytime you started a new game, you got a different challenge. But if thats my only gripe with this game, then Id say these guys did an amazing job with the release. If I could give it 10 stars I would!
If you like word puzzles, youll really like this game. Simply addicting...
I love this twist on the usual "snake" style of this game, and the round goals are interesting and challenging.
I have waited for this since getting my iphone. On Palm I spent many hours in doctors offices, boring meetings and more with this game. It is the best word game I play.
Some bad moments
I had a game going for three years and it was wiped out after the update the other day. I have a screenshot from September showing I had finished level 1,547 and I had 1,558,199 points. I had advance another hundred or so levels after that. Today the game is frozen, says it is on level one (asking for 31,092 words of 1 or more letters) completely fubard.
